As soon as you arrive at “Asia’s Finest Luxury Hotel,” head over to your spa treatment to ease the effects of jet lag. Once you’re done and ready, it’s time for you to enjoy the sights.

Energetic, vibrant Delhi, auto-rickshaws, buses, and cars beep-beep through the roads to win the “fastest driver in Delhi” prize. It’s no wonder that India’s capital is a photographer’s paradise. It’ll be yours, too, as you take a rickshaw ride through Khan market that is full to the brim with luxurious silk scarves, buckets of spices (some of which you’ve probably never tasted before), shiny brassware, delicate meenakari jewelry, and so much more. Then take advantage of the fact that you’re standing in India’s melting pot—taste cuisine from all over the country. Savour all those flavours that explode in your mouth. A couple magical places you’ll get to experience: Jama Masjid (one of India’s largest mosques) and Humayun’s Tomb. Built in the 1650s, Jama Masjid stands on a hill, majestic in red sandstone and white marble. Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO-protected heritage site, is a grand mausoleum synonymous with bulbous Mughal architecture.

Agra

FOR TWO NIGHTS

ITC Mughal Hotel

From your Delhi adventures, take a three-hour drive to Agra, the City of Love, and spend the night. A bit of a backstory: its pièce de résistance is the 390-year-old Taj Mahal. This breathtaking “teardrop on the cheek of time” was built to immortalise India’s Mughal ruler Shah Jahal’s love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Constructed by 20,000 artisans over 22 years, the Taj Mahal’s pure white marble edifice reaches up to the cerulean sky, seeming to change from white to pink at dusk. It isn’t only Mughal architecture at play here. The sophisticated lines of the Taj Mahal celebrate Persian, Ottoman, and Islamic traditions, as well. Beauty overflows here. And you’ll get to bask in it at sunrise.

Jaipur

FOR TWO NIGHTS

Leela Palace

A four-hour drive from Agra is Jaipur. This dazzling walled city is one of India’s architectural wonders where ornate royal palaces still stand. It also has an intriguing pinkish hue—every building around you will range in colour from reddish brown to bright pink. They were painted so to welcome Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, during his tour of India in 1876. One of these rosy wonders is the Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of the Winds. From a distance, it looks like a five-level honeycomb with lights. On close inspection, the Hawa Mahal is a luxurious palace that sits on the city edge. Then take an exciting jeep ride to Amer Fort—or Amber Fort, as the British like to call it—which overlooks Maota Lake. Another palace you’ll visit is the Majarajah’s city palace, equally as resplendent as the Hawa Mahal.
