Elevating the Everyday Elegance
Life is a whirlwind of responsibilities, routines, and the constant buzz of everyday life. Amidst
Throughout our lives, we meet people with whom we form relationships. Some of these relationships are fleeting. They’re acquaintances; nothing more. One of them could be someone we stood in line at the market with.
Others stay in our journey longer. Maybe they’re our colleagues; people we share coffee breaks with during the work week. Perhaps they’re our kids’ parents. And throughout our children’s formative years, we empathised with each other, connected by our daily struggle to raise decent human beings.
Then there are the old friends; the ones we met as kids, or even as adults, then lost touch because life got in the way. These are the people who know us beyond the brave smiles we show the world. That’s why old friends matter.
Because of our shared history, there is nothing sweeter than catching up with these kindred souls. Life gets in the way sometimes and before we know it, two years have passed without us seeing each other. This is why it’s imperative that we grab every opportunity to reconnect with old friends.
There will always be reasons that get in the way of us meeting our friends. But are they excuses because you yourself may be uninspired and exhausted? The good news is that we are blessed with technology that allows us to meet up with people abroad without us having to hop on a plane. I LOVE that I can catch up with my global friends this way. But to be able to see those who live one hour away, that’s just fabulous. Making the effort to physically be with them has much to do with my happiness.
True friends can gauge what you are going through with one look at your face. They can FEEL your energy. They might just be the friend who helps you overcome challenges and rejuvenate your positive self; or they can LIFT you to even higher ground. Even just LAUGHING or CRYING with them feels wonderful.
We are solely responsible for our HAPPINESS. And that can only enter our lives through the CHOICES we make.
As you go through your life today, how about you give your best friends a call and make a date? Online or face-to-face; it really doesn’t matter for friends who can tell what the other is feeling with just one look.
