It’s okay to be ALONE!
Don’t get me wrong—other people make our lives ever so beautiful. They flavour our existence with different personalities, cultures, colours, and unique insights. Especially when we are young, people are vital in our lives because they are a huge source of our well-being and growth.
But as we get older—and you’d likely agree with me on this—we begin to see beyond people’s outward appearances and into their essence, their light. We feel their energy; we identify with their soul. But more importantly, we feel our own, as well.
Only then do we realise that age-old truth: everything we need to overcome obstacles lies INSIDE us. When we strive to pursue our deepest desires, all we need to do is to look inside ourselves to find that strength, that motivation to keep going the distance.
This makes it clear, then. The time we spend alone CARVES our path toward our destiny.
When we spend quality time alone, excluding any external influences, we are able to clear our mind and organise our thoughts. We put ourselves in the best position to completely FEEL our emotions and UNDERSTAND our thoughts. And when we are in this state of mind, we become ONE with our BEING. Have you ever experienced coming up with an idea and then feeling your tummy do somersaults and seeing the hairs on your arms stand with excitement? That’s your body telling you that you’re on the right track.
My journey with FIGS & FETA is one example of me intentionally carving out some time for myself. Being an online platform, there are times when a zillion conversations with my team happen simultaneously. I actually enjoy those because it is a dynamic, creative time. And it allows me to wake up each morning extremely excited to inspire millions of women around the world. I FEEL each soul that I serve.
What equally brings me pleasure is the fact that my work with FIGS & FETA allows me the daily alone time that I need. I take lots of sunrise walks, breathing in appreciation and breathing out gratitude. I meditate to rejuvenate my energy and clear my thoughts. I cook healthy meals—kitchen time is also my me-time. I visit the beach; have picnics at the park.
I know each one of us spends alone time differently. The important thing is that we spend alone time. Solitude need not be lonely. In the silence, that is often the space we need to be able to shine our light to inspire others. Someone is always seeking a LIGHT. Be that light they need. But first, you need to spend some time alone and find the energy to GLOW.
