When your blank canvas is spectacular, whatever you place on top will look amazing! So yes, of course you can create this gorgeous celebration cake. There’s no need to get an arts degree. After all, each of us is talented in our own way.
Let me tell you, I appreciate and understand that our hands all perform differently. Some of us were born to write pieces that inspire. Others can create unusual, but lovely crafts. Whilst others are able to bring the heavens down to earth just by playing musical instruments. My hands are most definitely creative.
That’s why I’ve got to keep reminding myself that while everything must be FANCY, they should also be very SIMPLE. After all, only against the backdrop of simplicity can fancy creations really shine.
So let’s make a pact: We keep our concept simple and then express our unique creativity by coming up with something gloriously fancy.

Let’s get on with it!
Create a beautiful celebration cake using a blank canvas and dried flowers
Step 1: Grab a stunning plate. (If I may say so, our Beaded White Serving Platter is the most versatile. (Available here )
Step 2: Place a pretty doily on the plate. If you don’t have one of those lying around, nowadays, you can get the paper ones from a variety store. You can also make your own doily out of baking paper. Those give off a charming FARMHOUSE look that will add to the overall appeal of your creation.
Step 3: Measure the diameter of the cake. (For this project, we used a circular cake. It goes great with the shape of our plate. But if you prefer a cake in a different shape, go right ahead! Just make sure the plate you use matches the shape of your cake.) Cut out baking paper with the same diameter as the cake. Place this under the cake, on top of the doily.
Step 4: Decorate the cake with the available materials you find in your house. To style this tablescape, I used a mix of dried and faux flowers to give pops of colour. Then I finished off with a luxurious ribbon. It works like a treat every single time!
This easy-to-follow cake styling technique using found materials in your home is perfect for your next event or family dinner. There is no better way to elevate your dining experience and show people you care by setting your table in style. (The bonus is, for this one, you get to create with the least amount of effort and time.)
